How can we best support those who are working tirelessly to support others? The answer is simple: we can provide them with a space to focus on what THEY need as essential working members of society.
The work frontline social workers and support staff do each day in the Domestic and Gender-Based Violence sector is unmatched, and the rippling impacts of the lives they touch are endless. At GBV Resource Collective, we want you to know how vital you and your frontline staff are; we also know the burnout that is being experienced by shelter staff across Canada. There has never been a more imperative time to support our supporters than now.
Through our partnership with YWCA Canada and the Community Engagement Sessions advising the National Action Plan, we heard the voices of the sector speaking to the needs of frontline support staff and social workers in shelters across the country. As a response, we have developed this accessible program to meet those needs.
In each monthly facilitated support and engagement session, frontline social work staff will be provided:
· Supports in dealing with burnout, fatigue, and vicarious trauma
· A space to engage with likeminded frontline professionals within their sector
· The opportunity to collaborate with each other and share ideas
· A safe and supported platform to share what they have been experiencing in their work
· Information and tools to harness success within their sector and to better support their clients and their families
